The clock is circling and circling closer to the day that the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience arrives once more. Known as one of the most anticipated and wildly entertaining festivals in the United States, Voodoo has upped the ante by bringing in a colossal trio of headliners in Childish Gambino, Arctic Monkeys, and Mumford and Sons. Of course, to further enhance those musical palates, Voodoo has also tapped a great array of choice artists to complement the juggernaut three in acts like Odesza, A Perfect Circle, Modest Mouse, Janelle Monáe, and Marilyn Manson. So, by all odds, your Voodoo Fest nights seem completely covered. However, the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience is an all day affair for 3 whole days — What to do during those earlier hours? – seems to be the question. As such, here are our top 7 acts to watch from this stellar under-card. Enjoy.

White Reaper.- Mixing an intoxicating blend of classic rock with a splash of young man hubris, this Louisville quintet has been on the up & up since the release of their second LP, The World’s Best American Band, back in April of 2017. Needless to say, with an album title quite that eye-opening, you have to see what the hoopla is all about.

Ty Dolla $ign.- This Los Angeles-based rapper is known for dynamic shows packed of punchy anthems and plenty of crowd interaction. Recently partnering up Lil’ Uzi Vert and G-Eazy for their Endless Summer Tour, Ty Dolla $ign is one cool hip-hop virtuoso that is sure to have your head bopping for the entirety of his set.

Albert Hammond Jr.- It takes a healthy amount of courage to wander off from your cushy digs as the lead guitarist of rock titans, The Strokes. Nonetheless, Mr. Hammond Jr. refuses to chill-out while the band is on hiatus. With the release of his newest record, Francis Trouble, Hammond has turned several heads and burst quite a few ear-drums on an extensive tour. So, New Orleans, here is your chance to see what the big deal is.

Elle King.- She’s a talented young lady that will blow your mind and kick your ass. Elle King is what good ol’ Americana-style melody sounds like. Don’t be a fool, Ms. King is simply one act to catch.

Mt. Joy.- Philly-bred indie folk outfit, Mt. Joy is the easy-going bunch of this group. However, their musical gusto is one to be reckoned with. If you’re into dynamically chilled vibes and deeper meanings with your tunes, then Mt. Joy is what the doctor ordered.

Thunderpussy.- As their name would suggest, these girls fucking slay. Melodically, Thunderpussy is a throwback of that leather-jackets-and-cigarettes underground blasting rock-n-roll. These are four badasses creating badass music — what more can your ask for?

Sunflower Bean.- New York trifecta Sunflower Bean is a psychedelic alt-rock band that is known for spacey hooks and a feelgood presence. Lead songstress, Julia Cumming, is categorized as person-of-the-people type of performer. Basically, she goes all out for her faithful and makes sure you leave in a better place than when you arrived. Be sure to check them out.
There you have it, folks! Keep in mind that the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience will showcase plenty of acts; all worthy of your attention. These are just our top seven under-card outfits to see. So, please, if plan to attend any of these, don’t hesitate to stop by and say hello. Cheers!
